Why we exist

Long distance moving is one of the most expensive consumer services in America — the average interstate move costs $4,500 to $7,500. Yet most people get exactly one quote and book whichever company answers the phone first. They overpay by $800 to $2,400, on average, compared to what they'd pay if they had compared three quotes from licensed carriers serving their route.

We built US Move Quote to fix this. Our service does one thing well: collect your origin, destination, and home size — then match you with three FMCSA-licensed interstate carriers who actually serve your specific route. You pick the best price and service. We don't add a markup, we don't lock you in, and we don't sell your data outside our verified carrier network.

How we vet carriers

Every moving company in our partner network is verified for:

• Active FMCSA operating authority with a valid USDOT number and MC number, checked against the FMCSA SAFER database.
• Current cargo and liability insurance on file at minimum federal levels.
• Complaint history — we monitor BBB complaints, FMCSA filings, and state attorney general actions. Carriers with patterns of fraud, bait-and-switch pricing, or hostage loads are removed from our network.
• Route experience — we only refer carriers who actively run trucks on your specific origin-to-destination corridor.

What we cover

US Move Quote serves long distance and interstate moves between the 48 contiguous US states. We focus on:

• State-to-state and cross-country moves (most popular: California to Texas, New York to Florida, Illinois to Florida)
• Military Permanent Change of Station (PCS), DITY, and PPM moves
• Senior relocation and downsizing moves
• Corporate and employee relocation
• Specialty items (pianos, gun safes, fine art, antiques)

We do not currently service moves to or from Alaska or Hawaii — those require specialty barge or air freight carriers we don't partner with.

How we make money

We are paid by the moving carriers in our partner network when we match them with a qualified call. We are never paid by you. There is no fee, markup, or hidden charge for using US Move Quote. The carriers' quotes you receive are the same prices they would offer if you contacted them directly.

What we are not

US Move Quote is not a moving company. We do not own trucks, hire drivers, or transport household goods. The actual moving services are performed entirely by independent FMCSA-licensed carriers who contract directly with you.
